Dellene DeLoach Johnstone, 71, died Monday, June 23,
2008, at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
She was born September 30, 1936, in Claxton, Georgia, to John Slaton
DeLoach and Lela Vivian DeLoach. She was preceded in death by her
mother, Lela Vivian DeLoach. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James Robert Johnstone of Irmo, South Carolina; children: Walter Johnstone of Raleigh, North Carolina; Jay Johnstone of Irmo, South Carolina; and Julie Stephens of Columbia, South Carolina; father, John Slaton DeLoach of Glennville; brother, Bill S. DeLoach of Waynesboro; and grandchildren: Andrew Johnstone, Patrick Johnstone, Rachel Stephens, and Savannah Stephens. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Truett Leveritt officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Remembrances can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016. Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements. |

Young, 66, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Hospice of the Golden
Isles in Brunswick after a short illness. She was a native and a
lifelong resident of Long County. She retired from the Long
County School System where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria.
She was a Baptist by faith. She is survived by three daughters: Judy Gordon and Joyce Puckett, both of Ludowici, and Janice Cline of McDonough; one son, James C. Young of Fernandina Beach, Florida; one sister, Louise Mullen of Savannah; one brother, Bill Davis of Ludowici; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel of Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Stillwell officiating. Interment was in Davis Cemetery. Pallbearers were James English, Elton Poppell, Troy Davis, Larry Walter, Gerald Walter, and Bob Coble. Weathers Stanfield, 85, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Evans Memorial
Hospital. The Evans County native had lived in Glennville most of
her life. She was retired from Glenvue Nursing Home as a nursing
assistant, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Northside
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pharis
and Mamie Weathers; and brothers: Wilmer, Edward, and Eugene
Weathers. She is survived by her husband, Edward Stanfield of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Powell and Jerry LaRoase of Hinesville and Linda and Danny Johns of Glennville; sons and daughters-in-law: Johnny David and Dot Weathers, Bobby and Carol Weathers, and Eddie and Glenda Weathers, all of Glennville; and James Weathers and Sue Mitchell of Hinesville; sisters, Sula Wilson of Claxton, and Dorothy Groover of Glennville; brother, Albert Weathers of Las Vegas, Nevada; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, from the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Johns, Robbie Weathers, Tommie Powell, Michael Powell, Lem Weathers, and Bryce Weitman. Stanfield, 68, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at his residence. The
Tattnall County native had lived in this area most of his life.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, and he retired from the Department of
Transportation Engineers. He is survived by his son, Ashley Stanfield of Claxton; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Sauls of Elgin, South Carolina; brothers and sister-in-law, Bruce and Jackie Stanfield of Duluth and Russell Stanfield of Louisiana; three nieces; and one nephew. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, from the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with Elder Jimmy Haire officiating. Burial will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, with military honors. Pallbearers will be Jim Blocker, Jack Blocker, Jerry Blocker, Josh Reynolds, Joe Woods, and Reggie Todd.
