Felisha Powell Palmer

Tammy Wells, along with concerned friends and family, have announced that the Felisha Powell Palmer Memorial Benefit Concert will take place at 4433 Henry Moxley Road in Cobbtown on Saturday, August 29, beginning at 12 noon. The event, presented by Big Dog Concert Series and Southern Thunder Mudtrack, and sponsored by NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton,  features country star Rhett Akins along with several local bands.
The event, which includes musical acts, food vendors, craft vendors, business exhibitions, a car show, a bike show, and biker games begins at 12 noon and ends at midnight.  All proceeds go to the Dalton and Derek Palmer Trust Fund.
Felicia Powell Palmer was only 29 years old when she lost her life from domestic violence on May 4, 2009.  Her husband, Patrick Palmer, has been charged with her murder and is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial.
The children are in the care of a family member and are in need of financial and emotional support as well as counseling.
Concerned friends and family members of the two boys, Dalton, age 8, and Derek, age 11, have created the Dalton and Derek Palmer Trust Fund, c/o South Georgia Bank, Reidsville, Georgia, to help cover current living expenses.
“These boys are left with no financial support.  Going through such a tragic event has left them without parents and in a serious emotional situation.  It’s our goal to raise enough money so their immediate needs are taken care of.  We all loved Felisha and we’re doing everything we can to help her sons in this time of need.  Individual donations can be made to the trust directly and would be appreciated,” said David Anderson of Reidsville.
The benefit kicks off with a car show at noon with three classes - any type of car, any truck, and any vehicle under construction (in the restoration process).  A Bike Show will also take place, beginning at noon with three classes - American bikes under 15 years old, Import Bikes, and Classic motorcycles over 15 years old.  The community is invited to participate in both shows and there is no entry fee.   Attendees will vote, and People’s Choice Awards will be handed out for both shows.
Musical acts begin performing at 2 p.m., including Southpaw at 2 p.m.; Dead Man’s Hand at 4 p.m.; Cody Walden at 6 p.m.; Lance Stinson at 8 p.m.; and Rhett Akins taking the stage at 10.p.m.
Various craft booths, food booths, business expositions, and biker games will take place all day long.      Several domestic violence groups will be on hand to discuss prevention and options for families in need.
Tickets for the all-day benefit may be purchased in advance at www.etix.com, NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, Diva’s Beauty Salon in Reidsville, Giordano’s Motorcycle Shop in Reidsville, and South Georgia Bank in Reidsville. Tickets may also be purchased at the gate.  Children age five and under will be admitted free of charge, and adult tickets are $15.  All proceeds go to the Derek and Dalton Palmer Trust Fund.
