Alfredo Salgado Salas

by Michelle Wolf
On Friday, September 11, 2009, the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alfredo Salgado Salas on outstanding warrants.  Salas was arrested without incident at the La Joya store located on Hwy. 1 and Hwy. 15 in Toombs County.
The intensive manhunt for Salas had been ongoing since Wednesday, September 2.  Help from citizens increased rapidly after a $500 reward was offered by the City of Glennville for any information leading to Salas’ arrest.
“We knew if we could get enough of our citizens alerted to the situation, they would help us get this fugitive into custody,” reported Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Lt. Kevin Keyfauver.
The Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the arrest by the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, the Glennville Police Department, the Georgia State Patrol, the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Units, the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Reidsville Police Department.
“This has been a long ongoing investigation involving Salas, who is suspected in various crimes around the southern end of the county and in the City of Glennville,” reported Tattnall County Sheriff Quinton Rush.
Salas is being held at the Tattnall County Jail on outstanding warrants for State Probation violations and issues with the Immigration Service for illegal re-entry into the United States.
In addition, new charges are pending in regards to reported thefts in the Glennville area.
“Anyone who may have information or has obtained property from Salas is encouraged to contact the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 557-6777, or the Glennville Police Department at (912) 654-2103,” said Lt. Keyfauver.
