by Charles Barnard The Friends of Glennwanis Hotel will be conducting a Rock-A-Thon on the porches of the hotel, located on the corner of Barnard and Tillman Streets in downtown Glennville from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, November 6. At the same time, the residents and staff of both the Sunshine Place for women and the Pledger House for men will rock the night away on their respective porches in support of the hotel restoration project. Participants at all three locations invite area residents to make pledges in support of their efforts to raise monies for the Glennwanis Hotel Restoration Fund. Area residents are encouraged to stop by for a visit at either location on their way to and from the 13th annual Pancake & Sausage Supper, sponsored by the Glennville Chamber of Commerce, and served at the Glennville Middle School cafeteria from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. And, while you are out, don’t forget to visit with participating local merchants offering extended store hours and special holiday sales during their Christmas Open House that same evening. Persons interested in rocking or in supporting those who do rock, should contact Friends Chairperson Paulette Weaver at 237-1302. Pledge sheets are available for anyone wishing to participate. Rocking chairs will be provided for those who do not have one of their own. All donations are appreciated.
