Glennville merchants will be ringing in the holiday season with their Christmas Open Houses this Friday, November 6, with special sales, refreshments, and later hours for shopping.
Strickland’s Pharmacy is all aglow with several fully decorated theme trees, and you’ll be thrilled with the selection of adorable ornaments you’ll find.  Polka dots and zebra designs are the “in” emphasis this season, and Strickland’s has fashionable polka dot frames and initialed Tervis tumblers in polka dots and zebra stripes.  New scents have arrived for Tyler Candles (25 percent off) for the holidays, and you’ll love “Eggnog” and “A Christmas Tradition.”  A new supply of John Deere toys have just arrived, too.  Remember, too, that selected items will be 50 percent to 75 percent off.  Other specials await you throughout the store, so visit the friendly folks at Strickland’s Pharmacy and enjoy refreshments and door prizes.
McCurdy’s on Main has been closed earlier this week to make preparations for their spectacular Christmas Open House, which will feature later hours this Friday - until 9 p.m.  This exclusive gift shop has an amazing selection of unique decorating items for the home.  These include elegant Christmas trees and decorations, wreaths, garland and arrangements, candles, lamps, and antiques. Their items make especially pleasing gifts, and you will want to make several selections from their array of decorative pillows, books and cookbooks, framed prints, and specialty foods.  For gift giving and for your own home, see their selection of Lynn Haney Santas; Christmas collectibles, such as Christopher Radko and Byers’ Choice Carolers. Jewelry by Emily Ray, Waxing Poetic, and Maximal Art by John Wind make ideal gifts for Christmas and other occasions.  Enjoy refreshments throughout the day, too.
Downtown Barnard Street is home to Central Pharmacy and The Catwalk at Merle Norman, and the staff are all excited about Friday‘s Open House.  You’ll find ornaments, makeup, Christian t-shirts, and Mainstreet glass, all at 25 percent off.  Webkinz, those soft cuddly little animals, are on special - buy two and get one free.  Select from an array of animals - from giraffes to frogs - and adults collect these, too.  Baby clothes, from newborn to toddler, are 25 percent off, and you can find the perfect baby gift at Central Pharmacy or that precious outfit for those upcoming holiday photos.  Make sure you select an ornament from their “Cheer & Dance” Christmas tree, for gift giving and for keeping!
The Mascot is joining in the merriment, also, by hosting their Christmas Open House this Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Visit their retail shop for a variety of gifts for all occasions, birthday, anniversary, appreciation, and holidays.  Remember, too, that gift certificates are available.  The Mascot is well known for its pecan candies, and their chocolate covered pecans are the yummiest gift for anyone who loves chocolate, and also remember their cinnamon glaze and roasted and salted pecans.  Their pecan caramel clusters and pecan logs are two treats among others that are sure to satisfy those on your gift list.
Courtney & Company, a hair and tanning salon, located next to Central Pharmacy on Barnard Street, is ringing in the season with a 20 percent off special on all hair services this Friday.  Come by and visit their attractive shop, with extended hours this Friday - until 7 p.m.  Walk-ins are welcome, or call 654-2727 to schedule an appointment.
Glennville DQ Grill & Chill, on North Veterans Blvd., is a vital part of the community and joins in the festive day this Friday, November 6, with an all-day special of $1 off a chicken strip basket (either 4-piece or 6-piece).  This delicious meal also comes with French fries, Texas toast, and choice of dipping sauce (country gravy, ranch, bleu cheese, BBQ, honey mustard, or sweet & sour).  Top your meal off with a delectable Blizzard, such as the Pumpkin Pie or Girl Scout Peanut Butter Tagalong, among other flavors.
Jessica’s Palace, on downtown Barnard Street, is where you can start your Christmas savings with their quality selection of new and pre-owned merchandise.  Select from brand new Christmas trees in a variety of sizes, plus all you need for decorating and gift wrapping.  Jessica’s Palace also carries a wide selection of baby items, from clothing to cribs and everything in between - all at a savings.  After you make your selections, choose an envelope off the Christmas tree to find out your discount, ranging from five percent to 50 percent.  The shop will be open until 8 p.m. this Friday, and regular hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Pine Forest Christmas & Collectibles will host their annual Christmas Open House at their downtown Barnard Street location, across from Jessica’s Palace.  The staff has been working like Santa’s elves in preparation for this weekend, with their open house hours on Friday, November 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, also, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Enjoy refreshments and door prizes while shopping, with 25 percent off on Christmas items, and this includes silk trees, wreaths, centerpieces, and ornaments.  Also, selected pieces of antique furniture in oak and mahogany will be up to one-half price.  Pine Forest has a fantastic array of items, from collectibles (including Madame Alexander dolls) to popular UGA items.  Their collection of antique glassware is phenomenal and includes Vaseline, Fostoria, Hull, Marigold, Blue Carnival, Lipton Tea, Ruby Red, and milk glass.  Nascar and Coca Cola items are among the often sought after collectibles you’ll find at Pine Forest.  Their Barnard Street phone number is 654-9056 in addition to their 654-2427 phone number at the N. Veterans Blvd. address next to Kicklighter Realty.
AVON Independent Sales Representative Harriet Carey will have a Christmas display of AVON items and products at the Glennville Sentinel office of the following one-of-a-kind items:  Holiday Lighted Leg Sitter - Reindeer Elf; Fiber Optic Gazebo; Chilly Critter Candle (one Penguin and one Bear); Fiber Optic Village; and A Snowy Glow.  Look for stocking stuffers (to include lip balms, hand creams, and mini bubble baths and body lotions).  Gift sets will be available in bath and body products as well as men’s and women’s cologne sets.  Look for jewelry with prices that can’t be beat.  The popular grab bags will intrigue any one who has a sense of curiosity - they are only $5 each, and contain much more than $5 worth of merchandise.  Unadvertised specials will be on hand, and be sure to register for door prizes.
Glennville’s financial institutions are stable and reliable, locally owned and operated, and are supportive of the local businesses.
First Citizens Bank extends its appreciation to all for shopping our local merchants and an invitation to visit their Glennville location this Friday for their Customer Appreciation Day and enjoy refreshments, too.
South Georgia Bank looks forward, also, to seeing bustling activity in Glennville this Friday and welcomes shoppers to visit their Glennville location for refreshments and door prizes.
