by Michelle Wolf During a hearing at the Tattnall County Judicial Annex on Tuesday, November 10, Judge Robert L. Russell ruled that a motion for Stacy Durrence to receive a new trial will be ruled on during a hearing on Tuesday, December 1, at the Evans County Courthouse. “I will hear the arguments then. This case has gone on for a long time, and it needs to come to a conclusion with no more continuances,” Judge Russell stated. At the time of his original trial, Stacy Durrence pled not guilty to one charge of murder and one charge of felony murder in the death of Lee Woodcock, 50, of Glennville. Woodcock was gunned down in the backyard of his home on South Rushing Street on Easter Sunday 2002. Durrence was found guilty of murder beyond a reasonable doubt, but mentally ill in the case. He is currently incarcerated at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, Georgia. The State will need to have their brief filed by November 17. The defense will have ten days to review it by November 27, to allow the State time to make any necessary changes before the December 1 hearing.
