Dona Cela
    Dona Showalter Cela, 55, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Hospice of the Golden Isles after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born August 6, 1954, in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Donald Leon and Marion Alice Showalter. She graduated with honors from Chamberlain High School in Tampa in 1972. She moved to Glennville in the early 80s, then made her home in Brunswick where she had been a resident for the past ten years. She was employed as a Training Technician at the Federal Law Enforcement Center (FLETC). She was a member of  First Baptist Church of Brunswick where she attended Sunday School and was a member of The Single Club at First Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drive and the American Cancer Society where she made crocheted blankets for children with cancer. Her hobbies included arts, crafts, cooking, gardening, and animals.
    In addition to her grandparents, she was preceded in death by two uncles, Robert Gray and Robert Showalter.
    She is survived by her parents, Donald and Marion Showalter; two sisters, Nancy Purvis (husband Jerry) and Lisa A. Lester; two nephews, Brad Purvis and Buddy Barrow, all of Glennville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins; her beloved Yorkie, Rudy; and many friends at FLETC.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 14, in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, located at 3321 Glynn Avenue in Brunswick, with the Rev. Peter Vivenzio officiating.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Georgia 31525.
