Lon F. Durrence
Lon F. Durrence, 96, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He was a retired farmer, and loved his dogs. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Levy and Clifford Tootle Durrence.
He is survived by children: Shirley Deel (Gene) and Miriam Rouse (Bill), all of Chesapeake, Virginia; Margaret Stafford (Ralph) of Lebanon, Georgia; and Wayne Durrence of Portsmouth, Virginia; sister, Lothair Patricia Durrence Murphy of Savannah; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Harmony United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ramon Hernandez officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Burkhalter, Richard Ulmer, Eddie Cannatser, Jeffery Deel, Gene Deel, and Brian Baker.
Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
