Wayne Dasher will lead the Glennville Chamber of Commerce as the group’s president in 2010, with assistance from other newly elected officers: Vice President - Zuber Malek; Treasurer - Jay Hales; and Secretary - Jane Joyner. Dasher is an officer with the Claxton Bank and also is a member on the Georgia Department of Corrections Board. One-year directors are Lee Dubberly and Brent Walker, and two-year directors are Greg Woolard and Chas Hendrix. Bernard Purvis, as the 2009 Glennville Chamber president, will serve as a director in 2010 in his capacity as immediate past president. The new slate of officers and directors were approved at the November 17 Glennville Chamber meeting held at the Glennville Garden Club Center. In other business, Brent Walker shared a WTOC commercial promoting buying locally as well as several newspaper articles relating to what Madison, Georgia, has done to promote shopping in their community He stressed that it takes people to have businesses and businesses to have the people to shop with them. Charles Barnard, Executive Director of the Glennville Chamber, also welcomed the new Pizza Hut to Glennville, with Glennville one of several small towns in which Pizza Hut is locating. He said the Pizza Hut investment in the Glennville location was approximately $250,000. The Glennville manager is Samantha Longwell. He also welcomed Cecile Kirkley, new Cotton States agent, to her first meeting as a Chamber member.
