Herbert Cowart
James Herbert Cowart, 81, died Monday, December 7, 2009. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all his life. He was a farmer, and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Reidsville. In recent years, he attended Hopewell United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Jenny Cowart; brother, Ted Cowart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ernestine and Beverly Oliver and Louise and Burwyn Thurman; and sister-in-law, Jewel Cowart.
He is survived by brothers: Harris Cowart of Savannah, Enoch Cowart (Polly) of Reidsville, and E.B. Cowart (Jane) of Glennville; sister, Evalee Alston (Joe) of Statesboro; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 10, from the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Reidsville, with the Rev. Vance Riggins officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Oliver, Neal Oliver, Greg Oliver, Don Cowart, Mark Cowart, and Eric Cowart.
