Everett Blocker Everett F. “Day” Blocker, 71, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at his residence with his family by his side. He was a native of Claxton, Georgia, and a lifelong resident of Westlake, Louisiana. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and a former employee of Marvin White’s Midway Drive-In Theatre, Dimmick Supply, and the City of Westlake. He was the former owner of Everett’s Quick Check and White’s Auto. He was also a member of the West-Cal Kiwanis Club, the American Legion, and First Baptist Church of Westlake. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggie O. Blocker of Westlake, Louisiana; son, Gene Blocker of Elk City, Oklahoma; daughter, Denise Rougeou and husband, Rusty, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; mother, Louise Blocker of Glennville; brothers, Neal Blocker and wife, Patricia, of Lyons; and Loy Blocker and wife, Bonnie, of Glennville; sisters, Cathy Leubner and husband, George, of Westlake, Louisiana; Cay Holliday and husband, Eddy, of Glennville; and Donna Frey of Lake Charles, Louisiana; former daughter-in-law, Claudia Hebert of Welsh, Louisiana; four grandchildren: Buck Blocker and wife, Shelley; Ashley Rodrigue and husband, Josh; Lewie Rougeou; and Graham Rougeou; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Rodrigue and Channing Rodrigue. He was preceded in death by his father, Waldo F. Blocker. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, at First Baptist Church of Westlake, officiated by the Rev. Oliver McGuire. Burial was at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake. Active pallbearers were Jason Leubner, Michael Leubner, Evan Frey, Lewie Rougeou, John Allen, Buck Blocker, Graham Rougeou, and Ashley Rodrigue.
