Midget Boys Win

3rd Place at GRPA Tourney

    The Glennville Midget Boys’ baseball team swept the District and captured third place in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) State Tournament held recently.
    The team began their first round of Sub-District in Claxton.  They swept the Sub-District, beating Reidsville, Metter, and Screven County.  District play began on June 24 in Eastman at the Dodge County Recreation Department.
    The first game found Dodge County and Glennville in a battle to the end, but after eight innings, Glennville took the win and moved on to the next round, meeting Screven County.  This game would also prove to be another exciting eight-inning battle!
    Once again, Glennville came out on top and moved into the championship game where they would meet Dodge County.  The Glennville Midget Boys beat Dodge County for the second time to sweep the tournament and advance to the State Tournament as the Class “C” District 1 Champions.
    Berrien County Recreation Department in Nashville, Georgia, hosted the Midget Boys’ State Tournament.  In the first game, Glennville beat Early County in three innings, but fell to a tough Appling County team in the second game.  In game three, Glennville defeated Morgan County and then went on to beat Trion in game four.  Game five found Glennville and Appling County fighting for the chance to move on to the championship round against Cook County.  Glennville fell to Appling County and captured third place in the 2010 Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) Class “C” Midget Boys’ State Baseball Tournament.
    Congratulations are extended to these boys on a great season.  Thanks are extended to all the parents and fans who supported the team, and, especially Coaches Greg Woolard, Glenn Durrence, and Ron Barrow.
