Terry Sands
    Terry Mitchell Sands died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends with the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born in Tattnall County, Georgia, on December 30, 1946, to Harold
Bernice and Willa Mae Brannen Sands.  He was a Marine Corps veteran, and retired
from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 32 years of service as a Civil Engineer. He was employed with EMC Consulting Firm of Savannah.  He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and teaching young people how to hunt and fish.
    He is survived by his wife, Kristy Baker Sands of Ludowici; children:  Wendy and Robert Clark of Fleming; Courtney L. Kicklighter of Cherokee, North Carolina; and Carling R. “Sissy” Kicklighter of Wilmington Island;  sisters:  Lucy Nall, Ermadean Long, and Marilyn Browning, all of Glennville; brothers:  Beach Sands, Jerry Sands, and Gary “Tub” Sands, all of Glennville; grandchildren: Tyler Fincher, Rebecca Clark, and Robert Clark, Jr.; special friend, Ricky Burkhalter of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, in the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Dees officiating, with visitation preceding at 2 p.m. Burial was private.
    Remembrances can be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia  30459, or to the National Wild Turkey Foundation, Coastal Chapter, 7139 Leroy Coffer Hwy., Fleming, Georgia 31309, for the future education of young hunters and outdoorsmen.
    Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
