Melda Daughtry
    Melda Anderson Daughtry, 81, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital after a long, hard-fought battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  The Tattnall County native lived in Glennville before moving to Shell Point in Townsend, Georgia, in 1990.  She was a 1963, 1965, and 1968 graduate of Georgia Southern College, and retired from teaching in 1977.  She was a school counselor in Tattnall and Evans counties, and was a charter member of Cornerstone Bible Church in Glennville.  Her passion was studying and teaching the Bible, especially the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.  She was a member of Retired Teachers, and Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society of education.
    She is survived by her husband, Steve Daughtry of Eulonia; daughter, Leah Wilson of Jesup; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Pat Daughtry of Columbia, Maryland; and Philip Daughtry of Townsend; sister, Marjorie Thompson of Glennville; four grandsons:  Bryan, Cavan, Aaron, and Will Daughtry; and two granddaughters, Allie and Wendy Daughtry.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 19, from the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Ferrell and the Rev. Bobby Brinkley officiating.  Burial was in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Brent Walker, John Durrence, Tommy Hilliard, Jimmy McCurdy, Billy Neal Parker, and Dale Anderson.

    Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
