Elzie Bacon
     Elzie Morgan Bacon died Monday, December 7, 2009.  He was born on August 10, 1951, to the Rufus Bacon and Beatrice Bacon (now deceased) in Manassas, Georgia. He was the eleventh child of fourteen siblings, six of whom preceded him in death: Postell Boyd, Robert Bacon, Clarence Bacon, Donnie Bacon, Herman Bacon, and Ida Mae Bryant.   He was also preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Foster.
    He was educated at Tattnall County Industrial High School where he graduated in 1970. He worked most of his life in construction and was very passionate and committed to his profession. On July 30, 2007, he married his longtime love of 28 years, Wilma Jean Richardson. She was, indeed, his soul mate.
    He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Jean Richardson-Bacon of Glennville; two sons, Edmond Jermaine, Sr., and Kena Richardson, of Ellenwood, and Ryan Richardson of Glennville; one grandson, Edmond Jermaine Richardson II of Ellenwood; four sisters:  Marie Washington of Hayward, California; Johnnie Keels of Manteca, California; Julia Bacon of Glennville; and Joan and Mikell Foster of Reidsville; four brothers: Lester and Peggy Bacon and Bishop Bennie and Martha Bacon of Glennville, Alonzo and Ann Bacon of Atlanta,  and George and Margaret Bacon, Sr., of Savannah; five sisters-in-law: Lois Mae Bacon of Reidsville; Dorothy R. and Barney Berry, Clara Cross, Rose Mary Smith, and Takena Aaron Meuleman, all of Glennville; five brothers-in-law: Wilbert Richardson, Jr., of Hinesville; Thomas and Velvet Richardson of Jacksonville, Florida; Alfonzo Williams, Levi and Linda Richardson, and Dennis and Loretta Stewart, all of Glennville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, December 12, at 11 a.m. at St. James AME Church in  Glennville, with the Rev. Gregory Lordnum officiating.  Interment followed in Greater Zachariah Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers were Cleveland Mincey, Richard Golden, Otto Lewis, Roy Summersett, Freddie Hicks, and Ananias Thomas.
    Honorary pallbearers were nephews.
